11th July 2015  COS nominations - Wharfedale Festival of Theatre

The Cosmopolitan Players productions this last season impressed The Wharfedale Festival of Theatre adjudicators. Oh! What A Lovely War! - a play with music did well in the 'musical' category, with Bryan Craven nominated as Best Actor, Richard Hunt (above right) Best Supporting Actor and Jan Morrell (middle) & team Best Stage Presentation. This production directed by Carolyn Craven was also up for Best Musical with Danny Gamble as Best Musical Director. We were surrounded by theatre acquaintances and friends and had a very nice summer's evening at St Mary's School, Guiseley.

16th June 2015  We Are Family!

LIDOS have just put on a great musical spectacular - The Addams Family, directed by Bryan Craven. It included COS/LIDOS performers and crew. COS performers included Shirley Hoyland, Graham Middleton and Garry Darbey amongst the principles, with Graham Siddle, Gillian Myers and Matthew Tempest supporting, alongside the LIDOS regulars. Visually, as well as musically, this was a super show with a professional approach to the design, set, costume and make-up. The crew are to be commended, because there were big hire and transport logistics, where a large number of volunteers were needed to get everything to and inside the Carriageworks theatre. There has been glowing reports from audience members regarding this fabulous production.

24th May 2015  The Ladykillers!

Our spring 2015 production of The Ladykillers has been a fantastic comedy play and our audiences have loved it. All credit must go to our fabulous cast and excellent crew under direction from, initially Jan Morrell and then Carolyn Craven. It was a big show with a big set-construction, period-costume and props ... not to mention four violins and a cello ... oh and two hundred thousand pounds in banknotes (that's 1950's value)!
